Barcelona World Race
The Foundation is taking part in the regatta with the yacht We Are Water
Af ter its presentation in 19 countries throughout the world, the We Are Water Foundation is participating in the second Barcelona World Race (BWR), a transoceanic regatta, with the yacht We Are Water. This international event is being used to boost the Foundation’s profile and help it to spread its message around the globe. With this yacht, the We Are Water Foundation seeks to raise the awareness of the public, authorities, and society in general, and to make them reflect upon the need to create a new culture of water that will permit fair development and sustainable management of water resources. The BWR, the only non-stop round-the-world regatta with two crew members, began on 31 December last year and will take around three months to cover its 27,000-mile course across the Seven Seas. As part of the regatta, the city of Barcelona played host to the Barcelona World Race Expo, which showcased the event to the general public. Within the showground, the We Are Water Foundation had a stand to convey its message with a series of activities aimed at all kinds of audiences. With the creation of the We Are Water Foundation, Roca bolsters its commitment to sustainable development and to those people and communities most seriously af fected by water shor tages and their consequences. ■

The yacht’s crew is made up of Jaume Mumbrú and Cali Sanmartí, a matchless duo noteworthy for their sportsmanship and ambition. As the boat’s skippers, Mumbrú and Sanmartí are responsible for bearing the Foundation’s name around the world, not to mention highlighting the adventure involved in taking part in an ocean yacht race of this type.
